This had been the key message of Dr. Kiran Bedi's inspirational speech at the installation meeting of our Club today.
Today, the youngsters have every possible means with them, but they do not know the meaning of life, she remarked.
She called upon the Rotarians to take up any campaign in the city involving all the Rotary clubs in tricity but more importantly the government officers, and the youngsters, so that they can acquire some sensitivity that comes through selfless service.
"I learnt so much from Rotary which trained me, groomed me, nursed me, and made me do justice to my uniform", she remarked, and asked the Rotarians to recruit young members especially from the Indian Civil Services, "so that they can learn some sensitivity and compassion which Rotary teaches".
Recalling her days which she spent in Chandigarh, she lamented the sheen which the city is gradually losing because of the growing squalor, and even the fading signages, which shows that the city is aging, and needs to be spruced up.
The greatest challenge before Rotary is to show youngsters the way to give meaning to their lives by involving themselves in community service.
